National Security Advisor of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Hamdullah Mohib and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mr. Rashid Meredov chaired the Sixth Bilateral Security Commission between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. They signed a protocol formalizing bilateral security cooperation in various spheres.
The sides agreed to deepen cooperation at strategic, regional and local levels on border security and countering terrorism, smuggling of illicit materials and transnational organized crime. They also agreed to cooperate on security of economic and regional connectivity projects.
The sides also agreed to expand bilateral cooperation to combat new and emerging threats, including transnational terrorist groups and cyberspace.
