Turkmen parliamentarians praised the Afghan women role in Peace Process

A virtual meeting of Afghan-Turkmen female parliamentarians chaired by H.E. Ms. Hasina Safi, Acting Minister of Women Affairs of the I. R. Afghanistan and H.E. Ms. Berkelieva Gurbanguly Bayramberdyevna, Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on Social Policy of the Parliament of Turkmenistan was held.

In this meeting Ms. Godzhenova Aishat Muhammetdurdyevna, Member of the Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedom of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Ms. Nahid Farid, Chairperson of the Commission for Human Rights, Civil Society and Women Affairs of the Parliament of I.R. Afghanistan, Ms. Bayramova Gurbangul Geldiyevna, Deputy of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Ex-Chairwoman of the Central Council of the Woman’s Union and National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, Dr. Alime, Deputy State Minister for Peace on Human Rights and Civil Society, Ms. Zohra Motahar Ahmadzai, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Armistice Council, and Ms. Tarana Parshahri, First Secretary of the Embassy of the I.R of Afghanistan in Ashgabat also participated.

Both sides discussed Turkmenistan’s support for the achievements of Afghan women over the past two decades, the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the development of cultural cooperation and the exchange of experiences between female members of both parliaments.

The Afghan parliamentary delegation also shared information with Turkmenistan on how women participate in the peace process, Afghanistan’s achievements in the field of women’s rights and the preservation of women’s achievements after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.

The Turkmen side spoke about their country’s achievements in the field of women and children’s rights and supported the role and rights of Afghan women in Afghanistan’s political future and peace talks.
