Turkmen Foreign Minister visits Kabul

KABUL – Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov arrived in Kabul on Friday afternoon as part of a two-day visit to Afghanistan where he was received by the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.

During the visit, Mr. Meredov is scheduled to meet with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, and the National Security Adviser, Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, to discuss preparations for the opening of several important economic projects between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, consult and exchange views.

On the other hand, one of the important goals of Mr. Meredov’s visit to Afghanistan is to sign several Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations, agricultural quarantine, security and oil and gas issues between Kabul and Ashgabat.
