H.E. Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Deputy Foreign Minister of I.R. Afghanistan met with his counterpart H.E. Wepa Hajyyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and H.E. Rashid Meredov Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for Political Consultative Meetings between Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
He extended his sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality that has been extended to him and his delegation.
He mentioned that Turkmenistan is an important neighbor of Afghanistan and we share deep historic and cultural ties. We consider the development and progress of Turkmenistan as our own.
He extend his gratitude to H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the President of Turkmenistan for his vision and leadership. His personal efforts in major regional projects are much appreciated by the people of Afghanistan. We feel these projects will change the future of the region and also build confidence.
Deputy Minister expressed appreciations to the President of Turkmenistan for supporting Afghan lead and Afghan owned peace process.
He also thanked the people and the government of Turkmenistan for their assistance and support to Afghanistan. Turkmenistan has provided scholarships to Afghan student and also provided humanitarian assistance in building clinics and mosques.
Mr. Karzai congratulated Turkmenistan for hosting the 2017 Asian Olympics, and expressed Afghanistan ‘s support for success of the games.
He discussed bilateral ties, Economic development, cultural exchanges and regional projects including TAPI, Railways and Electricity Transmission, and security developments.
Both sides agreed to work closely towards further strengthening relations by holding meetings at the highest level.
Both countries will hold joint economic and commerce commission and also security and border commission in the coming weeks.
In meeting with H.E. Rashid Meredov Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan both side agreed to hold a joint exhibition of Afghan products in Ashgabat, and work towards trade balance, better coordination between the provinces along the region.
