A new international airport was inaugurated in Ashgabat.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Mohammadullah Batash, Minister Of Transport And civil Aviation of I.R Afghanistan, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of I.R. Iran, Minister of Transport of Turkey, Minister of Interior of Azerbaijan, representatives of a number of international and regional organizations such as the International Air Transport Association, the Interstate Aviation Committee, the International Road Transport Union, the International Organization for Migration, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Oceania National Olympic Committees and others.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the heads and representatives of the airlines and aeronautical services of 25 countries.
Afghan airline (Kam Air) was also invited to take part in the – test landing – flights.
H.E. Dr. Batash said, the new International Ashgabat Airport will contribute to further development of Afghan-Turkmen relations in the aviation sphere.
H.E Minister of Transport also met with H.E. Satlykov Satlyk Bayjanovich, Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Transport and Communication.
Both sides stressed on strengthening mutual cooperation and speeding regional projects and direct flights between Kabul and Ashgabat.
H.E. Satlykov Satlyk Bayjanovich stressed on the active participation of I.R. Afghanistan on the upcoming Global Conference on Sustainable Transport which is going to happen in November this year.
Both sides also discussed about the inauguration of Ata Murad – Imam Nazar – Aqina Railway after the Global Conference on Sustainable Transport by the presidents of both the countries.
