First RECCA National Focal Points Meeting Held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of I.R. Afghanistan

The first RECCA national focal points meeting was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on August 26th, 2017.

In this meeting focal points of sixteen countries, ambassadors, senior representatives of embassies, international organizations and high level officials of relevant ministries were present.

The meeting was started by the speech of H.E Adela Raz Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs followed by the speeches of Mr. Mohammad Ismail Rahimi Deputy Minister of Ministry of Economy, Mr. Hassan Sorosh Acting Director of Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of I.R. Afghanistan.

The Agenda, Draft Declaration, Priority Projects, Activity Plans, Annual Review and Foreign Minister’s Meeting of the Seventh Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VII) which is going to take place on 14-16 November in Ashgabat, 2017 were discussed.

The participants emphasized on the important role and responsibilities of the National Focal Points as the primary source of communication with the RECCA Secretariat regarding the planning, coordination, implementation and follow-up of RECCA priority projects.

The participants of the meeting decided to finalize the Draft Declaration and finalize it before the second Focal Points meeting which will take place before the Ministerial Meeting.

The National RECCA National Context Framework has recently been established with the view to improve, plan, coordinate, implement and follow up the RECCA Conference.
