CASA-1000 Tender for Convertor Stations in Sangtuda and Nowshera is launched

October 6, 2016: The tender for Convertor Stations in Sangtuda, Tajikistan and Nowshera, Pakistan is launched. Invitation for bids is published on project countries’ web-sites.

The detailed Qualifying Requirements (QR) are given in the bidding document of the subject package. The Bidding Documents are in English with Russian translation (in case of any discrepancy the English version shall prevail). The complete bidding documents are available for free download on a password-protected electronic data room hosted by Imprima. Requests for access to the electronic data room should be sent to the following email address – – stating the name and address of party making the request. Interested bidders can download the bidding documents and commence preparation of bids to gain time. Later on September 19-21, 2016 the CASA-1000 Secretariat conducted the Procurement Committee (PC) meeting in Dubai. The main purpose of the meeting was discussion and approval of the comments received from HVDC manufactures on convertor stations tender documents. The PC agreed with the changes to be made in tender documents and updated the project implementation schedule. It was agreed that Convertor Stations tender will be launched no later than October 6, 2016. The bid submission deadline has been set for February 6, 2017. The PC also agreed to conduct pre-bid meeting on December 5-6, 2016 in Dubai.

CASA-1000 Secretariat attended the Afghanistan Energy Business Opportunities Exhibition and conference which was conducted with USAID support in Dubai, UAE. Conference attendees expressed strong interest in CASA-1000 recognizing the importance of the project to the region. The CASA-1000 Secretariat and the Afghan delegation had an opportunity to communicate with potential HVDC manufacturers and EPC contractors on the current status and the next stages of the project. Many Afghan companies attended the CASA-1000 stand seeking opportunities to be involved in the implementation of the project. The Secretariat’s representatives described the CASA-1000 procurement processes and the ways for Afghan companies could be involved in the project.
