Afghanistan Win First Gold in Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

23-year-old Hussain Safari won the gold for Afghanistan in Men’s 62 kilogram category of Ju-Jitsu Contact beating his rival from Turkmenistan Dawut Nuryyew. 21-year-old Jawid Ahmad Amiri won silver for Afghanistan in 60 kilogram category of Men’s Freestyle Wrestling after making it to the final by beating Uzbekistan’s Abdulrasul Khabibullaev and Turkmenistan’s Nowruz Eyebergiyew before losing 2-4 to the host country’s Tirkisgeldi Ayazow in the final.

The 23-year-old clinched the highest medal after beating hosting country’s Dawut Nurryew, Kuwwat Yazalakow and Kyrgyzstan’s Ariet Bekishov in the men’s ju-jitsu, 62kg category.

Jawid Ahmad Amiri won silver medal in traditional wrestling discipline in 62kg weight after defeating Uzbekistan’s Abdurasul Khabibullaev and Turkmenistan’s Tirkigeldi Ayazow.

In Futsal, Afghanistan defeated China 6-1. Akbar Kazemi hit three goals while Sayed Mehdi Hashemi and Jawad Haidari hit two and one each respectively.
