Afghanistan and Turkmenistan talked about expanding cultural ties

Mr. Khan Wali Khan Basharmal, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan met with Mr. Mohammad Ismail Miakhail, Director General of the National Radio and Television of Afghanistan, Mr. Turshekov Yagmyr Byashimovich, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and Mr. Orazdurdyyev Batyr, Director of Turkmen Satellite via video call, and discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the media and satellite sectors.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Basharmal spoke about the cultural commonalities between the two neighboring countries emphasized the strengthening of cooperation in the fields of culture, media, and press.

Mr. Miakhail also announced the readiness of the Afghan side to make joint cultural, sports, and social documentaries with the Turkmen side.

Mr. Turshekov Yagmyr Byashimovich expressed readiness in this regard and assured of bilateral cooperation within the framework of an agreement.

In this video conference, the two sides also discussed the conversion of Afghanistan’s broadcasting system from analog to digital and the provision of transponder for Afghanistan National Radio and Television that can be broadcast via Satellite of Turkmenistan.

The head of Turkmen Satellite assured that Turkmenistan is ready to provide a transponder for the Afghan National Television and to cooperate in the field of digitalization.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided that the technical teams of both sides will work on the implementation of today’s commitments in various fields to provide the ground for the implementation of the tasks as soon as possible.
